Shadows of Messiah

In the beginning, Elohim created the Aleph Bet from whence came the heavens and the earth.

YHWH created the universe by His Word which consists of the letters of the Hebrew Aleph-Bet.

Psa 33:6  By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.

Heb 11:3  By faith we understand the ages to have been framed by the Word of God, so that the things seen should not come into being out of things that appear.

Joh 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Joh 1:2  He was in the beginning with God.
Joh 1:3  All things came into being through Him, and without Him not even one thing came into being that has come into being.

Rabbi Dov Ber, the Maggid of Mezritch
“It is known in Kabbalistic literature that the letters of the Aleph-Beis were created first of all. Thereafter, by use of the letters, the Holy One, Blessed is He, created all the worlds. This is the hidden meaning of the first phrase in the Torah, “In the beginning God created אֵת ” –that is, God’s first act was to create the letters from א to ת (Or Torah; see pg 35)
Leviticus 26 verse 3 begins with Alef, verse 13 ends with Tav which indicates that the commandments are as perfect as the universe in which they are to be fulfilled.

Wisdom in Hebrew alphabet pg 47
The sum total of human knowledge derives from the Torah because the universe is a product of Torah which is the blueprint of the world, as the Midrash teaches:  God looking into the Torah and created the world (Zohar, Ruth 88) When His Ineffable Word took physical form, heaven and earth became the clothing for the word of God which infuses Creation, and without which Creation would not continue to exist.  The spiritual Torah which preceded the world became clothed in ink and parchment, and the Godly wisdom which is the essence of Torah remained hidden in its words and letters (Ramban)
With the advent of Creation, the wisdom of God took the form of the 613 commandments.  But the precepts are not isolated phenomena; they are all interrelated aspects of a single Torah, like the organs and vessels of a single human body to which the totality of the commandments are likened.  Indeed, the 613 commandments give spiritual life and nourishment to the organs and vessels of the individual human being just as they provide continued existence to all of Creation

Isa 8:18  Behold, I and the children {Messiah and His body} whom YHWH has given to me are for signs and wonders in Israel from YHWH of Hosts, who dwells in Mount Zion.

The word for signs above it אות which is the same word in Hebrew word a ‘letter’.

Letters correspond to elements

Tanya, Shaar HaYichud V’haEmunah I
“If the letters (with which heaven was created) were to remove themselves for an instant, God Forbid, and return to their source, the entire heaven would become an absolute vacuum”

This concept is related in the New Testament in 2 Peter.
The Greek word translated as elements in 2 Peter 3:10 = letters
2Pe 3:10  But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with rushing sound, and having burned the elements will be dissolved, and earth and the works in it will be burned up.

1a) the letters of the alphabet as the elements of speech, not however the written characters, but the spoken sounds (This is interesting to note.  Connecting letters to sound.  In Brian Greene’s ‘Elegant Universe’ (pg 15) he describes everything as sound.  This is the essence of string theory.  Everything traces back to strings that are vibrating at different frequencies.  This is backed up by Scripture where it is said that the Word (Messiah) is holding all things together (Colossians 1:17; Hebrews 1:3click here).)  In the Targums on Psalm 50:1 it speaks of Creation being a song.  The Hebrew of Psalm 50:1 states:

Psa 50:1  A Psalm of Asaph God, YHWH God, has spoken*, and calls to the earth from the rising of the sun to its going in.

*Here the Hebrew word is Dabar (דבר) this is traditionally translated as ‘word’.  Hence, the ancients understood the Word (dabar) as being a song.  This is seen in Scriptures where YHWH is spoken of as our strength and our song (Exodus 15:1; Psalm 118:14; Isaiah 12:2).  Notice in those verses that it is speaking of YHWH becoming our salvation.  The Word of YHWH is seen as the physical manifestation of YHWH on the earth.  For more on this click here.  The Psalms speak of the Word being a song (Psalm 119:54; 138:5; 71:22), Shaul also speaks of this concept in Colossians 3:16.  The Glory of YHWH is associated with music/praise (Luke 2:32; 2 Chronicles 5:11-14; Psalm 57:8; 108:1-3).

1b) the elements from which all things have come, the material causes of the universe1c) the heavenly bodies, either as parts of the heavens or (as others think) because in them the elements of man, life and destiny were supposed to reside (This is interesting to note as well.  The heavenly bodies, in specific the mazzaroth, are described as signs אות in Genesis 1:14)  Psalm 19 says that these signs are speaking from the heavens to mankind.  The heavenly bodies are also associated with music (Psalm 148:2; Job 38:4-7)

1d) the elements, rudiments, primary and fundamental principles of any art, science, or discipline
1d1) i.e. of mathematics, Euclid’s geometry (Again an interesting note.  All things were created by the Word…ie letters of the Hebrew aleph-bet.  All Hebrew letters have corresponding numbers.  Aleph = 1, Bet = 2 etc.  This is further seen in that the Hebrew word for number (mispar) and the Hebrew word for book/scroll (sepher) come from the same root word (saphar).)

The root of this word comes from סף which is the root of the word for lips.  There is an interesting connection to the enlarged bet and the letter peh.

The Letter Peh in the square Aramaic Script looks like this:

Notice that the letter bet fits perfectly within the letter peh:

The sages believed this was showing that there was an invisible mouth that spoke creation into existence (Colossians 1:15).

“When applied to God, the terms ‘letters’ and ‘utterances’ are figurative, like such terms as God’s ‘mouth,’ ‘arm,’ and so on, with which we describe God’s deeds in human terms in order to help us conceive of His manifestations.  Human beings formulate their thoughts in language, and letters are the building blocks of language.  When we think, we take our various ideas, thoughts, and desires and distill them into words.  Thus, letters represent the raw material with which we express the products of our intelligence…When we wish to communicate our ideas to others, we must articulate them in an intelligible utterance.  The listener knows what is going on in our minds only when he hears us express our ideas in audible words….the letters of the Aleph-Beis are the array of individual spiritual forces through which God articulates His will in Creation.”

The ancients attributed great importance to the Aleph Bet

1 Infancy chapter 20

1. There was also at Jerusalem one named Zaccheus, who was a schoolmaster.
2. And he said to Joseph, Joseph, why do you not send Jesus to me, so he may learn his letters?
3. Joseph agreed, and told St. Mary;
4. So they brought him to that master, who, as soon as he saw him, wrote out an alphabet for him.
5. And he asked him to say Aleph; and when he said Aleph, the master asked him to pronounce Beth.
6. Then the Lord Jesus said to him, Tell me first the meaning of the letter Aleph, and then I will pronounce Beth.
7. And when the master threatened to whip him, the Lord Jesus explained to him the meaning of the letters Aleph and Beth;
8. Also which were the straight figures of the letters, which the oblique, and what letters had double figures; which had points, and which had none; why one letter went before another; and many other things he began to tell him and explain, of which the master himself had never heard, nor read in any book.
9. The Lord Jesus further said to the master, Take notice how I say to you; then he began clearly and distinctly to say Aleph, Beth, Gimel, Daleth, and so on to the end of the alphabet.
10. At this the master was so surprised that he said, I believe this boy was born before Noah;
11. And turning to Joseph, he said, You have brought a boy to me to be taught, who is more learned than any master.
12. He said also to St. Mary, This your son has no need of any learning.
13. [New paragraph in the oldest extant manuscripts] They brought him then to a more learned master, who, when he saw him, said, say Aleph.
14. And when he had said Aleph, the master asked him to pronounce Beth; to which the Lord Jesus replied, Tell me first the meaning of the letter Aleph, and then I will pronounce Beth…
Sir John Chardin mentions Persian legends concerning Christ’s dispute with his schoolmaster about his ABCs.

môtsâ’ מצא  /  מוצא
This is related to the Hebrew word for unleavened bread

H4682

matstsâh
BDB Definition:
1) unleavened (bread, cake), without leaven. מצּה

Unleavened Bread is a picture of Messiah.  Matsa is pierced, bruised and striped which points back to Isaiah 53, where the Right Arm of YHWH is revealed.  The Right Arm of YHWH = the Light of His Face (lechem paniym)

Psa 44:3  For they did not inherit the land with their own sword; yea, their own arm did not save them. But it was Your right hand and Your arm and the light of Your face, because You favored them.

Each letter points to Messiah.  As can be seen above, Hebrew is a pictographic language with each letter representing a physical object and action.

Messiah is seen in the Animal kingdom (aleph – ox; Gimel – camel), He is seen in our body parts (Gimel – foot; Yod – hand; Kaf – palm; Ayin – eye; Peh – mouth; Resh – head; Shin – teeth), He is seen in agriculture and architecture  (Bet – tent; Dalet – door; Vav – Tent peg; Zayin – mattock; Lamed – staff; Tsadie – hunter) and He is seen in nature (Mem – water; Nun – seed; Samekh – thorn)

Agrobiolinguistics – Language, Biology and Agriculture are all linked together.

Mat 4:4  But he answered and said, It is written, Man (biology) shall not live by bread (agriculture)alone, but by every word (linguistics) that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Gen 1:11  And God said, Let the earth sprout tender sprouts, the plant seeding seed, the fruit tree producing fruit according to its kind, whichever seed is in it on the earth. And it was so.

In Hebrew it is written “His kind, whose seed is in Himself”

Creation is the second witness of the Scriptures.  Shown through agriculture, biology and language.

The good seed (agriculture), is the Word of Elohim (linguistics), which became flesh (body, biology)
Luk 8:11  And this is the parable: The seed is the Word of God.
Joh 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Joh 1:14  And the Word became flesh and tabernacled among us. And we beheld His glory, glory as of an only begotten from the Father, full of grace and of truth.
Gal 3:16  But the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his Seed (it does not say, And to seeds, as of many, but as of one, “And to your Seed,” which is Christ).

Edenics

All languages trace back to Hebrew.  According to the Holy Scriptures, all peoples spoke one language until the Tower of Babel when the languages were confused (Genesis 11:1). In the end there shall be one language again (Zephaniah 3:9).  What language will this be?  Many who have studied the origin of language believe this will be Hebrew.  This study of the origin of all languages tracing back to Hebrew is called Edenicsclick here. (See also Edenics.org)

The Hebrew language points to the Word, who is Messiah.  Each letter of the Hebrew Aleph-Bet, and each word in Hebrew points to Messiah.  Hence, every word of every language points to Messiah.  It is harder to see Him in English, or German or French than it is in the pure waters of Hebrew but He is seen nevertheless.

Book of Sirach Prologue
“Wherefore, let me entreat you to read it with favor and attention, and to pardon us, wherein we may seem to come shore of some words which we have labored to interpret.  For the same things uttered in Hebrew, and translated into another tongue, have not the same force in them: and not only these things, but the Law itself, and the Prophets , and the rest of the books, have no small difference, when they are spoken in their own language.

1611 AV translators
“Againe they were not out of the Hebrew fountain (wee speake of the Latine Translations of the Old Testament) but out of the Greeke streame, therefore the Greeke being not altogether cleare, the Laitine deriued from it must needs be muddie.”

Isaac Newton – The Language of the Prophets pg 14
“He that would understand a book written in a strange language must first learn the language…Such a language was that wherein the Prophets wrote, and the want of sufficient skill in that language is the main reason why they are so little understood.  John did not write in one language, Daniel in another, Isaiah in a third and the rest in others peculiar themselves, but they all write in one and the same mystical language…For the language of the Prophets, being Hieroglyphical, had affinity with that of the Egyptian priest and Eastern wise men, and therefore was anciently much better understood in the East than it is now in the West.  I received also much light in this search by the analogy between the world natural and the world polictic.  For the mystical language was founded in this analogy, and will be best understood by considering its original.

If every word that we speak points to Messiah, then perhaps we should be a lot more careful of what words we use.

Mat 12:36  But I say unto you, That every idle* word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

*In Greek this word means without labor or without function.  If our words are not building up (edifying) then they are idle and we shall be judged for these worthless words.  Our Creator used words to create, and His Word is holding all things together.  Language is to be used for a function, if it is not being used as such it is perverse.  In Hebrew, the word for wicked/evil/bad is ‘ra’which means something that is not being used properly or for it’s intended purpose.

Hence, idle words are wicked.  They are a perversion of the tool of speech that the Most High has given mankind.  They are a perversion of His Word, who is Messiah.

We are to speak His Word

1Pe 4:11  If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God;
Isa 8:20  To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

Deu 6:6  And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
Deu 6:7  And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
Deu 6:8  And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.
Deu 6:9  And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.

Col 3:17  And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Psa 71:8  Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour all the day.
Psa 71:15  My mouth shall shew forth thy righteousness and thy salvation
all the day; for I know not the numbers thereof.
Psa 145:21  My mouth shall speak the praise of the LORD: and let all flesh bless his holy name for ever and ever.

Psa 96:2  Sing to YHWH; bless His name, bear news of His salvation day by day.

2Co 10:4  (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
2Co 10:5  Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Jam 1:26  If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.

Pro 29:20  Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.

“I WAS ONLY JOKING”
Pro 26:18  As a mad man who casteth firebrands, arrows, and death,
Pro 26:19  So is the man that deceiveth his neighbour, and saith, Am not I in sport?

JAMES 3=Pro 16:27  An ungodly man diggeth up evil: and in his lips there is as a burning fire.

Perverse words, idle words can pervert and defile the whole body

Jas 3:6  And the tongue is a fire, the world of iniquity. So the tongue is set among our members, spotting all the body, and inflaming the course of nature, and being inflamed by Hell.

the phrase ‘course of nature’ in Greek literally means ‘wheels of genesis/beginning’

Jas 3:6  καὶ ἡ γλῶσσα πῦρ, ὁ κόσμος τῆς ἀδικίας. οὕτως ἡ γλῶσσα καθίσταται ἐν τοῖς μέλεσιν ἡμῶν ἡ σπιλοῦσα ὅλον τὸ σῶμα καὶ φλογίζουσα τὸν τροχὸν τῆς γενέσεως καὶ φλογιζομένη ὑπὸ τῆς γεέννης.

The universe is being held together by His word which is likened unto a spiral (wheel).  The sinful thoughts, words and deeds of mankind perverts the entire universe.

As seen above, the elements(letters) will one day be burnt up in a fervent heat.   It is then that the new heavens and earth come, where there is no sin.   It is sin, the perversion of His creation which was created by His Word (Aleph – Bet) that is the origin of evil.

Pro 16:27  A worthless (belial) man plots evil, and on his lips it is like a burning fire.

‘Burning fire’ in the above verse comes from:

H6867

tsa^rebeth
tsaw-reh’-beth
From H6686; conflagration (of fire or disease): – burning, inflammation. צרבת

This word is linked to the mark of the beast.

The word translated as mark in Revelation is used only one other time in Scripture referring to man engraving something to represent the Almighty
Act 17:29  Then being offspring of God, we ought not to suppose that the Godhead is like gold or silver or stone, engraved by art and the imagination of man.

The Greek word that is translated as mark is ‘charagma’ which is etymologically related to ‘charakter’

This word charakter is only used once in the Scriptures.  It is translated as express image.  Again we see a connection to the mark and the image.

Heb 1:3  who being the shining splendor of His glory, and the express image of His essence, and upholding all things by the Word of His power, having made purification of our sins through Himself, He sat down on the right of the Majesty on high, Psa. 110:1

This word was used to translate only one Hebrew word in the Septuagint

G5481
charakter     H6867    tsarevet

The other use of this word is in reference to the metzora/leper
Lev 13:23  And if in its place the bright spot is stayed, it has not spread; it is an inflamed(burning kjv) boil, and the priest shall pronounce him clean.
Lev 13:28  And if the bright spot stays in its place, and does not spread in the skin, but is somewhat faded, it is a swelling of the burning; and the priest shall pronounce him clean. for it is a scar
(kjv inflammation tsarebeth) of the burning (micvah..burn or brand).

This is precisely what James says in James 3:6, the tongue can set on fire the wheels of genesis and defile the whole body.  Leprosy is linked with words, in specific slander.

The root of charagma and charakter is charax

G5482
χάραξ

2) a palisade or rampart
2a) pales between which earth, stones, trees, and timbers are heaped and packed together

A Related Word by Thayer’s/Strong’s Number: from charasso (to sharpen to a point, akin to G1125 through the idea of scratching)

*Charax is akin to grapho which means to write with reference to letters.  This theme of the mark being associated with the Word is seen over and over again.
The word for mark in Hebrew is את, which represents the Aleph-Bet.  The mark is also related to His Image, His Body, & even Breadclick here.

Our words are to be the fruit of the tree of life (Proverbs 11:30), if they are a mixture of bitter and sweet (James 3) then we are bringing forth the fruit of death which is the tree of knowledge of good and evil (mixture).  There was no guile in the mouth of Messiah (1 Peter 2:22) and there is to be no guile in the mouths of His Body (Revelation 14:5).

1Co 16:14  Let all your things be in loveclick here.
1Co 14:26  Then what is it, brothers? When you come together, each one of you has a psalm, he has a teaching, he has a language, he has a revelation, he has an interpretation. Let all things be for building up
 (edifying, not idle).

1Pe 4:11  If anyone speaks, let it be as the words of God; if anyone ministers, as by strength which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ; to whom is the glory and the might to the ages of the ages. Amen.
