Unleavened Bread

Exo 12:16  And in the first day there shall be an holy convocation, and in the seventh day there shall be an holy convocation to you; no manner of work shall be done in them, save that which every man must eat, that only may be done of you.
Exo 12:17  And ye shall observe the feast of unleavened bread; for in this selfsame day have I brought your armies out of the land of Egypt: therefore shall ye observe this day in your generations by an ordinance for ever.
Exo 12:18  In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at even, ye shall eat unleavened bread, until the one and twentieth day of the month at even.
Exo 12:19  Seven days shall there be no leaven found in your houses: for whosoever eateth that which is leavened, even that soul shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel, whether he be a stranger, or born in the land.
Exo 12:20  Ye shall eat nothing leavened; in all your habitations shall ye eat unleavened bread.

Unleavened bread מצות ‘matsot’ is spelled exactly the same as the Hebrew word for commandments מצות ‘mitsvot.’

This word מצות is used 37 times in the Scriptures which corresponds to the word הלב ‘halev’ which means ‘the heart.’  37 is also the ordinal value {order of letters in sequence} of חכמה ‘chokhmah’ which means wisdom.

Pro 10:8  The wise in heart accepts commands {מצות}, but the foolish of lips shall be thrust away.

His Word is His ‘heart.’

The first letter of the Torah is ב, the last letter of the Torah is ל, the last letter of the TaNaKH is also ל.  Both forwards בל and in reverse לב the word for heart is seen.

BDB Definition:
1) mind, heart

The Torah/TaNaKH is the ‘heart’ of YHWH (Psalm 119:32; Isaiah 51:7; Philippians 2:8).

Psa 37:30  The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks judgment.
Psa 37:31  The Law of his God is in his heart; his steps do not slide.

The Word is Wisdom

1Co 1:24  But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

Exo 12:39  And they baked the dough which they brought out from Egypt into unleavened cakes. For it was not leavened, because they were driven out from Egypt, and they were not able to delay. And also they had not prepared food for a journey for themselves.

The word for food in the above verse is צדה ‘tsedah’ which is linked to manna in Psalm 78.

Psa 78:24  and He rained on them manna to eat; yea, He gave the grain of the heavens to them.
Psa 78:25  Man ate the bread of the mighty; He sent them food {צדה } to the full.

Manna is likened to the Word/Messiah (John 6:31-71).  More on this below.

מצות is striped
Isa 53:5  But He was wounded for our transgressions; He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His wounds we ourselves are healed.

1Pe 2:25  For you were “as sheep going astray,” but now you turned back to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls. Isa. 53:4-6

מצות is pierced
Zec 12:10  And I will pour on the house of David, and on those living in Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and of prayers. And they shall look on Me whom they have pierced; and they shall mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they shall be bitter over Him, like the bitterness over the first-born.

Joh 19:37  And again, a different Scripture says, “They shall look at Him whom they have pierced.” Zech. 12:10

The number 2869 links the body of Messiah to Zechariah 12:10.

Zechariah 12:10 also says that they shall look upon me the את ‘aleph tav.’

Isa 41:4  Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the LORD, the first, and with the last; I am he.

This is related to the Hebrew word for unleavened bread

H4682

matstsâh
BDB Definition:
1) unleavened (bread, cake), without leaven. מצּה

Unleavened Bread is a picture of Messiah.  Matsa is pierced, bruised and striped which points back to Isaiah 53, where the Right Arm of YHWH is revealed.  The Right Arm of YHWH = the Light of His Face (lechem paniym)

Psa 44:3  For they did not inherit the land with their own sword; yea, their own arm did not save them. But it was Your right hand and Your arm and the light of Your face, because You favored them.

Further connecting this piercing is seen in His Passion.  The Greek word translated as passion (Acts 1:3) in the New Testament is πάσχω  ‘paschō.’  This word is used in the Septuagint to translate the Hebrew word חלה ‘chalah’ which means a piercing.

Isa 53:3  He is despised and abandoned of men, a Man of pains, and acquainted with sickness. And as it were hiding our faces from Him, He being despised, and we did not value Him.
Isa 53:4  Surely He has borne our sicknesses, and He carried our pain; yet we esteemed Him plagued, smitten by God, and afflicted.

Isa 53:5  But He was wounded for our transgressions; He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His wounds we ourselves are healed.

מצות is without leaven, which Scripture links to sin/lawlessness (Luke 12:1; Matthew 23:28).

Heb 4:15  For we do not have a high priest not being able to sympathize with our weaknesses but One having been tried in all respects according to our likeness, apart from sin.
Heb 7:26  For such a High Priest was fitting for us: holy, harmless, undefiled, and separated from sinners, and having become higher than the heavens;
2Co 5:21  For He made the One who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
1Pe 2:22  “who did not sin, nor was guile found in His mouth;” Isa. 53:9
LXX
Isa 53:9  And I will give the wicked for His burial, and the rich for His death; for He practiced no iniquity, nor craft with His mouth.

Isa 53:9  And He appointed Him His grave with the wicked, but He was with a rich man in His death; though He had done no violence, and deceit was not in His mouth.
Heb 9:28  so Christ having been once offered “to bear the sins of many,” Christ shall appear a second time without sin to those expecting Him for salvation. Isa. 53:12

Deu 16:3  You shall eat with it no leaven. You shall eat unleavened bread with it seven days, even the bread of affliction. For you came out of the land of Egypt in haste, so that you may remember the day that you came out of the land of Egypt all the days of your life.

Isa 53:6  All we like sheep have gone astray; we have each one turned to his own way; and YHWH made meet in Him the iniquity of all of us.
Isa 53:7  He was oppressed, and He was afflicted, but He did not open His mouth. He was led as a lamb to the slaughter; and as a ewe before her shearers is dumb, so He opened not His mouth.
